We’ve recently completed some research on Windows Mobile powered smartphones with GPS . (Testing was done on HTC and Samsung smartphones).   Using the Microsoft .NET mobile framework we could interact with the phone GPS data, gather data including longitude and latitude values, number of active satellites, direction and save the data to a remote SQL 2008 database through simple HTTP posts.   Further improvements allowed us to post to the remote SQL database based on specific intervals which includes time intervals and distance intervals. With a SQL mobile edition database installed on the Smartphone we also had the option to capture data locally and sync at a later stage with the remote database.   With positioning data captured in the SQL database, it was now possible to plot the points , including direction , speed, altitude and date time on a map (as indicated on the image).   There is a magnitude of interesting applications for this in...

From October to November 2008 the number of pageviews on MSN Property ( www.msn.co.za ) increased by over 30% while the number of visits to the website also increased by about 10% (up to 135,000 visits/month ). Don’t be surprised to see the MSN Property site top the 200,000 visits a month stats within the next 2/3 months. By Adriaan   Today (2 December 2008) I attended the funeral of Dr Duncan Gray, CEO of CENTURY 21 South Africa who sadly passed away on 22 November 2008 .   Since the launch of CENTURY 21 in South Africa Entegral was closely involved with the launch of the USA brand in South Africa. I personally had meeting after meeting with Duncan and his team to get the website and backend systems ready for the franchises. In the process I’ve learned a great deal from Duncan about international real estate franchising and the very strict and optimised business rules and models that go with that.   I will remember Duncan as a strong businessman who had an incredible passion for the CENTURY 21 brand and someone who believed in its people.
