A ground breaking new way to search for property: introducing POI (Point of Interest) searches on MyProperty

Property searches are generally conducted in the same old fashioned way: type in a suburb or choose an area from a dropdown and start your search.

Not anymore! Introducing a completely new innovative way of finding property on the internet: search by Point of Interest (POI).

How does it work?

Simply type in the POI name in the www.myproperty.co.za search box. Try enter ‘gautrain’ to search on Gautrain train stations or ‘university’ to bring up all the major universities in South Africa. We’ve also started to load shopping malls and schools and will continue to expand the list of available points.

Select a point and enter further filter criteria including the radius you want to search around the point, price range etc. Click search and properties withing a radius around the POI you’ve selected are displayed on a map with search results. Al properties have numbered markers and even have a ‘jumping’ marker to highlight them on the map when you hover your mouse on a property in the search results.

Driving time & distance – a first for a property portal

We are also proud to be the first South African property portal (and probably first in the world), to show driving distance and time from the property to the POI. This is indicated on the property search results and can even be sorted by shortest driving time or distance.

Entegral will rapidly expand the POI list of searchable points offered. The unique and industry first POI search with driving time & distance will also be made available to customers on request. It is ideally suited for real estate agencies who geo-code there properties as it used the longitude and latitude points between properties and POI points to do the calculates and mapping.

Property24 acquires Private Property, what do estate agents think?

Property24.com, South Africa’s largest property portal owned by Naspers, has bought rival Private Property . The deal is likely to come under the close scrutiny of competition authorities as it involves the two biggest property portals in the country. Due to the impact of such an acquisition on the industry, Entegral was interested to find out what the perceived advantages and disadvantages of such a deal would be, both through the eyes of the consumer and the estate agent.   Here are the results from around 250 responses received on a survey done over a 2 day period , mostly from agents and agency owners. US trends show more buyers come from internet, less from print

What’s even more interesting is that print newspaper hardly makes an impact, a mere 3% of buyers found their home through print.
