Understanding mobile visitor bounce rates

It is easy to shoot down new technology when you don’t have all the facts, or make wrong assumptions based on outdated technology you currently use. Giving wrong advice on mobile websites is easy, when you don’t have all the facts. Entegral has been at the forefront of mobile website development the last few years, and have upgraded our whole offering to our new Flex real estate website framework. 3 years ago we wrote an article on the slow uptake of mobile real estate websites in Southern Africa. Most real estate offices who consider themselves to be on the cutting edge of technology, have since established a mobile presence on the world wide web.

Running hundreds of websites including high traffic sites like MyProperty.co.za that have mobile websites, we can provide professional advice for real estate agents looking to upgrade their web presence to the next level.

Mobile website usage is on the rise, it’s been on the rise for years. Simply put, if you don’t have a mobile website, you’ve lost out on leads, and handed them on a plate to your competitors.

WHAT IS BOUNCE RATE?

It is an internet marketing term use in web analytics. It presents the percentage of visitors who enter your website and bounce (leave the site) rather than continue viewing other pages on your website. Low bounce rate means you have an engaging site and those visitors continued to browser the rest of your website. High bounce rate typically indicates the website isn’t doing a good job of attracting the continued interest of visitors. (source wikipedia).

HIGH MOBILE BOUNCE RATE ON YOUR WEBSITE?

When you don't offer visitors a mobile website option for your real estate website, the bounce rate will naturally be very high...since you don't offer an easy to use interface that adapts to their small phone screen size. They will see a big (slow loading) home page on their phone and jump off (bounce) to the next more mobile friendly website.

If they do however land on your website, and it is mobile friendly, you will keep their interest. You’ll have a lower bounce rate percentage, plus you will have a better chance of converting them to a lead.

Our comprehensive historical data on client websites and high traffic sites like MyProperty, shows more people searching for property on mobile (phone & tablet) after hours compared to using a pc. Are you loosing leads?
